Three steps

  1. 1

Pick a style and add a photo

Six styles sit above the upload box, with The Royal selected. Tap one, tick the box to confirm it's your pet's photo, then choose a photo from your camera roll. No account needed. Add your pet's name if you like; it goes on the brass plaque, never into the painting.

    Face visible, good light.

  2. 2

    Watch it being painted

Your photo stays on screen inside an empty frame while the portrait is made, with an honest progress bar: photo received, in the queue, painting, framing. Most portraits take 40 to 70 seconds. You can switch tabs; the tab title tells you when it's ready.

  3. 3

    See it, then keep it

The painting fades into a gilt frame with your pet's name on the plaque. Drag the before & after slider to check the likeness, or see it on a wall at 16x20. Love it? Download the HD file or order a canvas. Want another look? Try another style on the same photo; it uses one credit and no new upload.

What makes a good photo

The photo is the single biggest factor in how much the portrait looks like your pet. It needs to be at least 600 px on the short side, up to 10 MB, JPG, PNG or WebP.

  • Do: Eye level, close enough that the face fills the middle third.

Avoid: Taken from above, or the pet small in a big scene.

  • Do: Daylight from a window or outdoors in open shade.

Avoid: Night flash or a dark room with one lamp.

  • Do: One pet, nothing covering the face.

Avoid: Two pets, a hand over the head, or a costume already on.

Our likeness rules, in plain words

Every portrait request carries the same written instructions, whatever the style:

  • Paint this exact animal: same species and breed mix, same coat colors and pattern, every marking in the same place.
  • Same eye color and shape, same ears (floppy stays floppy), same muzzle, nose color and whiskers.
  • Don't make them younger, slimmer or fluffier. Real anatomy, no extra legs, no human hands.
  • One animal only. Leave out people, leashes, other pets and the clutter behind them.
  • No text, no signature and no frame in the image, with room around the ears so a canvas doesn't cut them off.

Portraits are made with AI from your photo, not painted by hand. If one ever comes out wrong, you aren't charged for it, and you can always try again.

Questions, answered

How long does it take?

About a minute for the preview. Most portraits are ready in 40 to 70 seconds after your photo uploads. You can switch tabs while it paints; the tab title changes when it is done.

What kind of photo works best?

A sharp phone photo taken at your pet’s eye level, with the face clearly visible, in daylight, and only one pet in the shot. At least 600 px on the short side. Blurry, dark or far-away photos make softer paintings.

Can I put my pet's name on the portrait?

Yes, on the brass plaque under the preview and in the file name, and on the packing note of a canvas order. The painting itself never has text in it, so it stays clean for framing.

What do I get with the HD download?

A clean JPG with no watermark at the full size the portrait was made (typically about 1024 x 1280 px), plus a print-ready version at twice that size (about 2048 x 2560 px). The exact pixel size is shown next to the download button. A Portrait Pass starts at $9 and unlocks every portrait in your account.
